confused with my ram bus speed?

hey, i bought a new pc yesterday. the processor is  ryzen 5 2600 with gigabyte rx 580. i have one corsair vengence lpx 8gb 3200mhz ram module. (CMK8GX4M1E3200C16) but the problem is, the ram shows 2133mhz in windows task manager. (screenshot link : https://imgur.com/Sm0ZH2n) my windows version is windows 10 pro 1903. I've tested my ram in userbenchmark. it shows same there, 2133mhz. if anyone can explain and relief me. any help would be so much appreciated.

You may have to enable XMP in BIOS to achieve the rated memory clock.

Edit: Also, single channel memory is not ideal for the optimal performance of Ryzen based computer. Consider an upgrade to dual channel later.

It will probably be called D.O.C.P (Dynamic Overclocking Profile) on a Ryzen board, its exactly the same thing as XMP though.

so is it like overclocking? do i have to oc to get the performance from the ram which should be 3200mhz by default! sorry i dont understand why? btw, i'll get another one in near future.

It's  rated for that speed then it's not considered as overclocking..just that xmp profile isn't loaded so it's running at default speed 2133mhz...enabling xmp just tells the bios to check with the ram what speed is it rated at and it'll set the ram voltage, speed, cas latency, etc. accordingly...and also putting single sticks even is it's rated at the same speed it might not reach that because it's only tested with 1 stick for the model...that's why dual or quad channels kits exist...

Not actually true, XMP/DOCP is overclocking.

All DDR4 ram is rated to 2133Mhz (JEDEC Standard), when its created its binned by the manufacturer and is given a rating based on what speed it can maintain without causing errors. This speed is then stored in a tiny EPROM on the ram as its XMP profile. Loading this profile causes the board to "overclock" the RAM up to the manufacturer rated speed.

Thats why its called D.O.C.P (Dynamic Overclocking Profile) on Ryzen systems and not XMP (Extended Memory Profile) and why, a lot of the time, enabling XMP causes system instability.

Ahh..I see..thanks for the clarification...i ran my 3200mhz cl16 at 3733mhz cl17..that's why I don't considered rated speed as overclocking..now I know..xD

Well I mean you;re not entirely incorrect. Think of it this way, DDR4 has 2 ratings. All DDR4 is rated to 2133 by JEDEC then its also rated again by the manufacturer to reflect what it can actually do.

You're running out of JEDEC spec but inside manufacturer spec.

It never used to be this way, I have no idea why they changed it for DDR4.

So, how can i set things up for getting 3200mhz? my motherboard is Gigabyte B450M DS3H. btw, thank you so much for clarify things up. I was bit worried and thought the product might be counterfeit.

power on or restart the pc...then press del when it's booting up and you should reach the bios screen..should be under mit>>advanced frequency or memory settings.

Go into BIOS and enable the feature called either XMP or DOCP (its more likely to be DOCP on Ryzen systems) and your RAM should run at full speed.
