Hi All,

So after waiting 3 months for my 3900X it finally arrived, so i went ahead and took out the 1600x I had working on bios 0604 in my X570-e motherboard and started up my pc only to receive a 02 error on my motherboard, black screen. I did all the debugging recommended for this checked every cable and connection and couldnt find anything unseated or loose, which wouldnt make sense anyway seen as it booted just fine with the 1600X in, I tried flashing bios (made my 1600X not work anymore :( ) resetting CMOS, I mean everything, so thought it may have been my processor, I got my friend to try it in his 3600X build using an MB and it worked perfectly .... So I thought Id possibly just buggered the first motherboard by using an 1600X so ran out and grabbed another X570-e, removed the old in with the new and BAM once again 02, is there any known solution or other troubleshooting steps I should be taking? I know the CPU and everything elseworks?

Specs:

Asus ROG X570-e

AMD Ryzen 3900X

Gskill trident Z Neo 32GB @3600mhz

Asus ROG Strix 1070 (Salvaged from old rig)

Corsair h150i

Seasonic Focus Platinum 750W

So from what it sounds like, whatever motherboard you put your 3900x into, you get a qcode 2? It might be a cpu error then. Double check the pins and make sure nothing looks broken. Also double check all cable connections again.

print "Hello World!" ("Hello World!")

No, it's something else, he said he threw his 3900x into his friend's board and it worked.

@fishboy1996 new BIOS release could be bad, try the previous BIOS with XMP off and see if that does anything.

@Airdragonz @Palden

I managed to fix it, turns out the first time you boot on an Asus ROG x570-e motherbaord at least in my case on two identical boards you get either an 02, 25 or 8d error, these pointed to several different things and i was pulling my hair out for hours/days. The fix and i cant quite believe this myself is on first boot to use a HDMI cable instead of a DisplayPort. It was literally my last resort I changed and reseated, built and tore apart the PC multiple times and it turns out this was the issue!  Thankyou so much for your rapid responses though!

Thanks fishboy1996   you saved me from shooting it.  2022  and I had the exact same problem. Had to send this stupid Mother Board 4322 km TWICE to be fixed and it came back the 2nd time saying Tested OK, installed and error 02 popped into the Q code  Nearly reached for a sledge hammer by this time. I found this thread and now it  is OK. All for a stupid 4K Display Port cable 404. You would think ASUS knew by now about this. thanks again fishboy1996 can't thank you enough.
