Would it be practical to just ad a 5g extender/transmitter to the fiber Network? Wouldnt that speed up the upgrading of the Internet infrastructure on the countryside?

The issue is, Fiber might not reach out that far. Not every Fiber on the pole can be used for this purpose. For example it could be a trunk line on the pole and thats not used for that purpose. Then you have to consider what bands are being used for 5G. Upper bands dont go as far, though offer better speeds. Which means this could require a lot of transmitters. Lower bands like 600 Mhz that T Mobile has aquired can go a distance and penitrate buildings better, but speeds are not going to be the fastest. If the cellular provide has the towers in the area, then its an easy upgrade. But if they dont, then that requires an investment.

Keep in mind not everyone can just put up a 5G transmitter, wireless anything is generally regulated by the government. There are only a few bands that dont require a licsense to use, such as 2.4 and 5Ghz thats used for WiFi. Everything else requires the provider to hold a licsense.

I just want to sit back and watch the world burn.
