Windows locked half memory

Windows is reserving half of my ram on my computer. My bios is detecting all 32gb but when I'm in the control panel and system info within windows, it says only 15.9gb usable

Is windows just saying that and all of its able to be used or is the other 16gb unusable(If so how would I fix it)

Most likely cause might be that one stick is defective.

at least found two cases of that.

 

So test the modules in pairs (dul channel mode) if you would.

Take out and re-seat mem sticks, and reboot. Just to rule out.

 

Yes, it's obvious, but a LOT of people don't do the obvious. I recently had this happen to me for the first time in 25 years, where my RAM only showed 8GB of 16GB kit that I recently reused in another build, I know for certain that I clicked them in same as always... anyway, reseated and worked again.
