Server Help.

Petrux-

I’m looking to build a server for Teamspeak and Games doesn’t need to be anything special. At the moment I’m just using my PC as a TS server for my family. Is there any videos or links to anything that could help.  thx in advance

Do you have a budget?

Id be tempted to just host it off aws or simmilar.

If you want to host at home, id get a used desktop or server depending on requirements, then run a hypervisor on it with vm for different uses.

What do you want the vidoes to show you?

Budget would be 300/400 and video maybe to show how to set it up and use it

Id get a used buiness desktop or a r720.

You set it up like a normal pc, then install the needed server programs, nothing super speical. Id use a hypervisor like proxmox on the hardware.

If you really want to build it yourself I would look for a B450 Motherboard and a ryzen 2nd gen maybe. About 16GB of RAM (DDR4 preferably) is recommended. If you want to host a minecraft server though more RAM is always better as more people can walk into different directions and load huge chunks of the world without any lagg. Should suffice for your needs as well as some other services (pihole and maybe! plex). Once you want to configure it you have to plug in an old graphics card though since the cpu doesnt have onboard graphics. As a hypervisor i can recommend proxmox (it´s free!). If that is not your style then just go ahead and install windows but preferably ubuntu server (that is free!).

Why not use Discord? its licence free, cloud hosted, can use a client or just web browser and lots of features for communication as well as game integration.

And game server requirements depend on what game you're running, something like Minecraft you could easily just put in a VM on your PC using Hyper-V
