Budget: 5 000 Canadian Rubles

Location: Canada Vancouver

Aim: some 3d rendering and high performance gaming / VR

Monitors: Dual and VR

Peripherals: Running Windows 10 OS

Why I'm Upgrading: New job with more buying power and It's about time to upgrade to something bigger and better.

My main concern with this build is if I should go full water cooling or not, it would add a bit more to the build however I've never done a custom water cooling loop before and also haven't fully landed on any one graphics card because of this.  So yea that's where I'm at, at this point should I go water cooling or not with the build I currently have and if I do go water cooling where do I even start.

Rendering in what programs?

You can get windows keys on ebay for $5

Probably want a 1080ti for 3d work as it has 11GBs of VRAM at around $500 USD on ebay, there's plenty of buyer protection.

an R7 3700X is a better value CPU. Or you could always go with a 12 core 3900X as well.

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...

Spoiler

What is your budget/country for your new PC?

what monitor resolution/refresh rate?

What games or other software do you need to run?

The rendering program is blended for now.

Yea thought about something similar just included it in the build as 'Padding'.

Hmmm I have thought about going the 1080 route though run into the same sports cooling heating issues

I assume blender*?

If that's the case get 2-3 1080tis depending on how important the rendering is to you.

Or Radeon VIIs/Vega FEs because of their 16Gbs of vRAM, seems important for those modeling programs.

PSU depends on how many GPUs you want to throw into the system, and if you want more than 2 GPUs go for X399/Threadripper.

also don't need 4000mhz RAM. This is just the baseline of what's pretty good for the money for the most part.

The cpu cooler comes with pre-applied thermal compound. Little need for Arctic Silver.

When getting four memory sticks it's better to get a single kit. This eliminates the small chance that the sticks may get mixed up and not run dual channel. Also, XMP profiles are based on the kit which might necessitate some manual adjustment of memory settings to achieve the advertised speed. But I'd suggest getting a 2x16GB kit instead of 4x8GB as that leaves two memory slots free for any potential upgrade.

Given the budget, I'd suggest getting two NVMe drives rather than one and one with a SATA III interface.

The budget allows for an RTX 2080 Ti.

There is some concern about Focus Plus psu protection settings. Consider instead a Corsair RMX or Seasonic Prime model.

Consider a 3900X cpu instead of the i9-9900K. It offers better rendering with gaming performance that is quite close.

Going with an X570 motherboard permits the choice of higher performance PCIe 4.0 NVMe drives. Not that the added performance would be that noticeable outside of long render runs.

The chosen case suggests that appearance is important. The build below uses all Aura Sync compatible components to facilitate lighting synchronization. I'm not sure where you

I have not included the optical drive. Is it really needed? Windows is available on a USB drive.

80+ ratings certify electrical efficiency. Not quality.
