Could someone recommend a solution to my networking issue?

My business's network seems to be having trouble keeping up, it seems to freeze every so often ever since I have added more devices to it. One or two sonos speakers seem to loose connection and stop playing every so often and internet connection on the iPad and computer seems to run a bit slow or freeze for a couple of seconds when loading something. I am wondering if I need a more powerful router (RT-AX88U, or two RT-AC68U with airmesh), faster internet speeds, or something else?

Currently I have an FIOS 150/150, and a Asus RT-AC68U router with the following connected to it

Wifi:

3 HD security cameras

Ipad (register/sonos/nest a/c)

3 sonos speakers

3 android tablets

receipt printer

regular printer

office computer

Guest network (maybe 3-6 users at a time)

Ethernet:

3 HD security cameras

DVR (the cameras and dvr are connected through a switch than to the router)

sounds like your wifi router can't keep up.

It could either be your device is too scattered that the wifi antanna on your router can't cover all area at the same time,

Or it could be just due to too many devices and the router cpu can't keep up.

I would suggest get a more beefed up router to test it out, or move all device right next to each other to test if it's the antenna coverage issue.

Most "home grade" Wi-Fi routers aren't really meant for lots of concurrent connections/connected devices. We've had similar issues in my work place until we switched to more professional equipment. Before that, connections would randomly drop, devices could not connect at all etc.

Could be your internet connection, of course, but that's hard to tell. You would have to measure the bandwidth going through your router to see if you're maxing it out.

Thank you for your responses, after reading them I tried to dig into some of the things you mentioned. Im not sure how to check my routers cpu usage but I'm starting to think its the band; speed tests on the 2.4ghz wifi are drastically different then the same test on the 5ghz and ethernet. Could it be that I have to many devices on the same 2.4ghz band? If so I run into the issue that all the wifi cameras and sonos speakers only run on 2.4ghz.

If its the router could you recommend a better one or minimum specs for different router; I was looking at an Asus RT-AX88U. On the other hand if its not the router cpu should I add another router and run the cameras on a different 2.4ghz?

2.4ghz

5ghz

The routers monitor; I'm not too sure why everything dropped off on the chart but it looked like the left side of the chart all morning.

You should connect via ethernet whatever you can (office computer) and I would recommend more advanced equipment.

My recommendation is:

For wifi between 1 and 3 (depending on the size of your house) Unifi AP AC LR

1 Managed switch, anyone could work but a Unifi 8 port 60W or 150W could get the job done.

For router a Unifi Security Gateway (USG), It should be fine for your speeds if you don't use any advanced features like IDS, IPS, and DPI.

if you need faster speeds I recommend a Netgate SG-3100, but it uses pfsense and its a little more complicated

The advantage of having everything UNIFI is that it gives you one place to manage and monitor everything
