If this is the wrong forum, please refer me to where I should post this.

My specs are
I7-5820k (It previously said 4820k, Figured out I was swrong)
Asus x99 A-II
16 GB Ram (don't remember hz)
1060 6GB

I want to get a better gaming experience. I play CS semi-professionally and get around 180-250 frames consistantly, I run 144hz so I would like more so it never dips close to 144fps

It anything is bottlenecking my pc what would it be, and If i should upgrade one thing, what should it be, and if i could upgrade two, what should i prioritize

If you are only playing CS:GO the cpu is almost always the bottleneck. Try turning your video settings to low in game, and if your fps doesn't really increase then that is a cpu bottleneck. However upgrading your cpu would require new ram and a motherobard as well, so that would become expensive.

What other games are you playing, and at what resolution? Your gpu is very likely to be the bottleneck is everything besides CS:GO, and is easier to upgrade, so it might be better to upgrade that.

Desktop:

CPU: Ryzen 5 1600 @3.75* RAM: 2 by 8gb G.Skill Flare X 2400 @2666* GPU Strix GTX 1070 @1880-ish

Storage: Samsung 860 Evo 500gb; 2x 2tb Seagate Barracuda Drives; 1tb hdd (It died after 4 years :();

Laptop: (HP Stream 11-y010nr "Spent all my money on my Desktop" Edition)

CPU: Intel Celeron N3060 @160 BILLION hertz RAM: 400 BILLION bytes Samsung DDR3L @160 BILLION hertz

GPUIntel HIGH DEFINITION Graphics @32 BILLION hertz

Storage: 32 TRILLION bytes of SOLID STATE emmc C drive with 64 TRILLION bytes of SOLID STATE microSD card D drive.

*Overclocked around 25% of the time... questionably stable.

Why would upgrading my CPU require new ram and motherboard?

I only really play Rocket League and Dead by Daylight other than CS:GO. I mainly care about the frames in CS though

If you're going to a newer platform like AM4 it will need new DDR4 ram and a new motherboard. Its not worth upgrading an X79 Platform when you're already maxed out (4820k)

Main PC: ROG Zephyrus G14 2020
CPU : AMD Ryzen 7 4800HS |

Start with a 240hz monitor then.

I think I have DDR4 ram, I can double check.

Sorry for my non-PC talk but what does
AM4 and X79 mean? My motherboard ssays X99 is that not different from X79? Sorry this is not my area of expertise

Oh my bad, switched X79 with X99. When talking platforms it usually refers to the socket.

X79 is socket 2011 which only supports processors designed for 2011 socket

X99 is socket 2011-V3 and also only supports processors designed for 2011-V3 socket.

AM4 is a much newer platform from amd which uses DDR4 and Ryzen processors

If you're willing to burn some cash for them FPS going ryzen is your best bet. A Ryzen 3600 and B550 which is coming soon will do you good.

So now that we figured out I have a 5820k insstead of a 4820k, What is the best course of action for me?

Still a new CPU? and in that case, which one?

And the Ryzen you suggested is that alsos LGA 2011-3? or would i still need a new motherboard?
