Is your Xbox controller Bluetooth compatible?

Easiest way is by looking at the Xbox logo on the controller, is it glossy around the logo or mat plastic, like the rest of the controller?

 

Those controllers are also known as Xbox One S controllers/1809 controllers (number under the batteries in the battery compartment).
