I was so nervous putting my wraith cooler on and the clips would not clip so i was kinda sliding the cpu cooler and now im kind of panicking because is it possible to over smudge the thermal paste. should i take it off and go buy thermal paste and remove the one i smudged.

i was not thinking it was not lining up so i pushed it to the right a bit so the clip would go over and did that a few times. I could be over thinking this i am just fucking so nervous, this is only my second pc build.

basically, if you aren't pulling a verge pc build guide and dumping thermal paste on it, you're fine

smudged thermal paste aint so bad. did you check temps while running it?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 10 and Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

How many watts do I needATX 3.0 & PCIe 5.0 spec, PSU misconceptions, protections explainedgroup reg is bad

I had a pesky time getting that thing on as well.  I just removed it to put on my CPU water block last weekend.  The paste was where it needed to be and nowhere else, so as long you were not sliding it extremely off the processor, it should be fine.

yea i dont see it leaking from the side so i thought i was ok but i had a panic attack for a second. i didnt want to destroy my pc i got today lol.

I totally understand that lol.  Like @Fasauceome said above, check your temps while running it.  If something seems off, you can always take it off and reapply, but I would bet that you are just fine.

That would be pretty hard to do

at worst your temps might be a bit high if it got some air gaps, but as long as it's running fine whatever

I edit my posts a lot, Twitter is @LordStreetguru just don't ask PC questions there mostly...
