I'm not entirely sure what the silver sheath on it is for

EDIT: the laptop is working again after the reseat but this is the second time i have had to do this so i need to know whats wrong and how to fix it for good

The silver cover was for insulating the ssds propably from other parts in the laptop. maybe from some interference from other parts. even for heat anticipation. depends from the material. You should place it back.

Did your device fall or was hard hit somewhere? that may have caused some pins not to come in touch correctly.

I think this happening to my drives too from time to time. I believe it is, mainly, from the bios application or the Operating system, not beeing able to recognize the ssd.

Try updating the bios to the latest version.

LAst but not least IF it happens to have another ssd or get a spare from a fellow try putting that on for sometime to see if it happens the same. That will mean that the ssd is propably defected and ask for return.

Laptop is less than 4 weeks old and has never been dropped or hit

The material of the silver sheath is a shiny silver cardboard material

Ask for if the pins aren't making proper contact that's why I reseated it the Curious thing is that it's reoccurring even after

I'll post an update when it happens again
