Installing windows issue

So I reset my computer and I have a windows 7 disk so I just grabbed that. But I only have 1 hard drive plugged in. When I try and install it to the drive it says I have the wrong format. So I reformatted it in windows and it still wouldnt work. I tried deleting it and starting new and still nothing

What are the system specs?
Any recent changes beyond the reset?

Are you trying to run any sort of OC?
Any more specific error than "wrong format"?
