i5-2500k Overclock

Hi there,

i was considering overclocking my i5-2500k. However, what would be a reasonable performance increase with a cpu cooler under £30 as I currently have a stock cooler and it will need replacing for an overclcok. I am completely new to overclocking, so am not too sure what to do. Any suggestions (or for a cooler or overclocking specs, like multiplayer and voltage)?

specs are as follows;

i5-2500k

Intel Stock Cooler (need an upgrade)

Asus P8Z77-V LX Mobo

16GB DDR3 RAM

GTX970

GT710

Corsair CX550W

What case and ram are you using?

In 2019, an overclock is a dramatic system improvement for this CPU. I have a 2500K that I run at 4.4GHz.

 

Scythe Mugen is the least expensive cooling option I would accept. Above this are Scythe products like the Ninja 5. These coolers are designed to be quiet with very slow RPM fans, but with better static pressure fans they perform just as well as Noctua or Dark Rock Pro.

I do not know if this is a good price where you are(seems overpriced to me as it's $40 in the US), but it's a start.

I was looking at something like a Cooler Master Hyper 212 Evo for cooking to allow my cpu up to at least 4.4 on the Asus P8Z77-V LX

If there is no hurry and rather go for a budget option, then Snowman M-T6 is a good option. The 6-heatpipe version.

It is few degrees cooler than my 6700K was with AC Freezer 33
