I have a GTX 1050 graphics card with a i7-7700HQ processor.

I want to force Chrome to use the GTX but that doesn't seem to be working. In Nvidia control panel I've gone into Manage 3D settings > Program Settings and selected the high performance NVIDIA processor as preferred Graphics card, and changed a few of the graphics settings for the program. What I get now is when opening the first window of chrome I assume the 1050 is being used since the graphics are noticeably better but after 5 sec the quality drops, and it looks to me as if the integrated Graphics card are then being used. I've looked at the Nvidia activity and it shows chrome as using the 1050. Not sure why the quality is dropping after 5 seconds, any ideas?

Use this in Chrome's URL bar:

chrome://gpu/

Scroll down till you see a spreadsheet. Look for GPUX (X will be a single digit number) and look which GPU has *ACTIVE* written at the end of VENDOR ID string. You should see GPU0 and GPU1 I'm guessing, check which one says *ACTIVE* all the way in the end of its string.

GPU1 is marked with *ACTIVE*

And from some of the other entries I believe the GTX 1050 is being used.

But it still changes after 5 seconds. At the beginning all the colors look really deep after which they kind of look washed out. Maybe it's some color settings somewhere or power saving. I don't understand why it's not keeping the deep colors.
