Power on LCD Controller board

Hello, New to display electronics here.

I'm planning on turning a laptop LCD to a monitor. I know that you need a controller board with a 30 pin connector. The board doesn't seem to feature any ports for the 5v power that it needs. When I asked the listing guy said it was next to the buttons connector. The only thing resembles a power source is some pin. It'll be really helpful if someone can explain how to power an LCD Controller.

It would have been helpful if you posted a link to the controller you're talking about, mate. Besides, all the controllers I've seen use 12V, not 5V.

That's a pretty terrible controller-board. What's your LCD-panel's model?

Short answer, I don't know?. Just stripped of the panel from my old laptop. There seems to be no easy way to open it from the laptop shell though..

You can't just buy a random controller and hope it works. Take the panel out, look on the back for a sticker with the model-number on it.
