New GPU Help

Jaime

Hello guys,

So, my R9 280X decided to died.

Its time to buy a new one.

My current setup:

I5 6500

Motherboard MSI B150M MORTAR

16GB Ram

XFX TS 550 Watts.

I was looking for the new RX 5700 XT, probably a Sapphire Nitro or the Msi Gaming X, but im not sure if my Psu can handle.

If not, what gpu would you recommend.

Hope you guys can help me :D

PSU will hand it, but your CPU wont. You will be bottlenecked a fair amount with that i5 on a 5700xt.

PSU is fine

The 5700 XT only uses about 200-250W under load.

Thanks for replying. but aparently i will suffer with the bottleneck...

It really isn't that big of a bottleneck. You'd be losing about 5% of your frames at 1080p on most titles, and fewer losses the higher the resolution you're rendering at. Virtual Super Resolution will allow you to basically render the entire game at 2k or 4k, and then push it out to a 1080p monitor, and that will reduce the performance lost by CPU bottlenecking to nonexistent.

Yes, it is a much bigger performance improvement than upgrading the CPU.
