Hey guys, my current specs are in the post signature.
I need to upgrade because my gpu utilization never goes over 50 percent in games, and i experience ever so slight stuttering in gunfights. I want to upgrade to something that will handle 1440p will at around 90+ fps with my current 2060 super from zotac

I am looking to jump on the used 1st or second gen ryzen prices, but i cant decide.
The motherboard i really liked because it would fit well with my case (black p600s) is shown to be a "D" on the overclocking tier list, so now im open to suggestions for any good looking motherboard at a decent price. The original i had in mind was the asus prime x470 pro because of the white accents it had, and the front usb-c was a great bonus. I do plan on overclocking the cpu which i will talk about next. Any boards you guys can reccommend that are going to be ok overclockers while having white accents? or is there another aestheticly pleasing motherboard that will look great in that case?

Onto the cpu now, which is the whole reason for this upgrade(darn g4600)
I can get a 1700 locally with cooler for 100$, 1700x without cooler online for 140$ or i can get a 1800x without cooler for 150$. I can also get a 2700 with cooler from amazon for 180, or even a 2700x without cooler for 180.

I used to own a 1700 and was able to oc it to about 4.1, but i had alot of microstuttering while using sony vegas and timeline scrubbing. i then switched to an 1800x and never oced due to me not having it long enough. how big is the performance gain from the 1700 vs 1700x or even the 1700 to 2700 in raw gaming? Or would i be better off getting a 6700k and a cooler? Your help is greatly appreciated! :D

Cheapest option is probably a 6700k and adding extra RAM.  Throw an OC at the rig and you're golden.  Don't go that route unless the cpu is genuinely inexpensive though, you dont want to overpay for old kit

Want to custom loop?  Ask me more if you are curious

The issue that i had with this is the cheapest 6700k that i have seen is 200 dollars, and that doesnt even come with a cooler, whereas i can get double the threads and a cooler along with a mobo that supports rgb(which mine does not) for the same price. Thus the reason i didnt really think buying a 6700k was viable.

@Turtle Rig
i dont need the ram yet, i know ryzen likes higher speed ram. Also, i was asking for suggestions on motherboards as there isnt alot of white accented ones. what kind of performance gain am i going to get by going balls to the wall on the processor and skimping on the mobo. as well as most b450s dont have a front panel usb c header, which my case has.

Definitely strike it off the list then.  As for the performance difference CPU side?  You can think of it as the CPU having 100% performance, while a good motherboard will let you eke out an addition 5-10+ % via overclocking.  The most important factor is definitely the CPU, with a good mobo being gravy in the vast majority of use cases.

Personally I would grab a 2700x along with a budget oriented tower cooler, motherboard of your choice and a 2x8gb RAM kit.  The 2700 or 1700 are also both great options if you can swing the extra for a suitable cooler

Any reccommendations on a good, white accented motherboard with decent overclocking?

Unfortunately not, I'm an ITX obsessed fella so my area of expertise doesnt really touch on what you want.

The steel legend seems to be a good option for the money, otherwise the Prime x470-pro is very solid all around and, IMO, fairly priced

Steel legend would look tiny in my case XD. that was the original motherboard i had in mind, but it was low on the tier list. i might just end up sticking with that.

as far as cpu performance in gaming goes. if im trying to go for high refreshrate 1440p gaming, whats the difference in performance between 1700 vs 1700x and 1700x vs 2700x?

Edit: the prime-pro is what i had in mind. not the steel legend.
