Hello, I'm new to this forum.

Basically I've been having some weird issues. When playing a game my PC freezes for a second or 2 and then just recovers like nothing happened. The frame freezes, the sound repeats itself over and over and it doesn't recognize any input made during that time. I was wondering what could cause this? This happens during most games, Banished and Overwatch being among the few I have no issues with. Games like AOE 2 (2013), Medieval II, Total War: Rome II, Borderlands 3. I'm 100% sure it's not my specs not being up to par since I'm running

i7-8700k

RTX 2080

16GB RAM

650W PSU

I've overclocked my graphics card so I thought that could've been the issue, but when I revert it to factory settings nothing changed. I updated my drivers as well and that seemed to have fixed the problem for AOE 2, until I rebooted my system afterwards.

Any suggestions?

Most likely it's that the game is fetching a file from the HDD, and it has to bring the drive out of it's sleep mode to do so. Check your Windows power settings, and change the "turn off hard disk after" setting to 0 minutes.
