Wood PC Case help

Gazel

Hi LTT,

I'm building a wood case for my pc, I've thaugh a lot about air flow so that it wouldn't run too hot on the wood and I think it'll be fine but there is one thing I'm not sure about : does the motherboard need a clear space behind the CPU (is it for thermal reasons or just to fit the different CPU brackets)?

The cutout hole is a newer feature that makes it easier to mount third party cooling solutions. While it is not needed you do need standoffs to keep the motherboard raised off the mounting surface.

I did in fact cut out the motherboard tray of an old case and fixed it to the back plate so I still have my standoffs! Thanks for your answer I can now put everything together!
