GPU Water block backwards compatibility.

Water cooling my build.

Currently have GTX 1080 ti

Planning on eventually upgrading to 2080 ti

Interested in this water block.

Can i mount it on my 1080, then when the time comes just transfer it over to the 2080? Or will i have to wait and water cool the GPU once i get the 2080?

 

Side Topic, and its probably already been addressed, but does anyone else think the Pascal cards looked better than the Turing cards do? The Founders edition obviously.

No it will not be compatible, here is the list of viable 2080ti GPU's that can work with this specific block.

PCB designs are different between different graphics cards, and GPU blocks are custom made for each PCB design, so you need one that is specific for your graphics card. Even OEM and AIB versions of the same GPU may differ.

Think of it like shoe sizes,Could you wear a pair of shoes that are 3 times smaller then you wear ?Like said it won't work like that,And honestly before you buy any 2080 make sure you can get a waterblock for it.Not all cards you can get a waterblock to fit them.
