The reviews on that one seem to speak for itself as being decent. I have an Altura flash that's at the same price point and don't have any issue with it. I considered that brand as well but the Altura had more and better reviews comparatively speaking for the same price, though it doesn't come with the diffuser but does come with a small case. Neither will be the same quality as a professional flash, but they'll do the job.

Wife's build: Amethyst - Ryzen 9 3900X, 32GB G.Skill Ripjaws V DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X570-P, EVGA RTX 3080 FTW3 12GB, Corsair Obsidian 750D, Corsair RM1000 (yellow label)

My build: Mira - Ryzen 7 3700X, 32GB EVGA DDR4-3200, ASUS Prime X470-PRO, EVGA RTX 3070 XC3, beQuiet Dark Base 900, EVGA 1000 G6

I looked at the Altura flash also.

The Neewer flash came today and seems to work well enough in some quick tests.  TTL seems to respond perfectly, but I honestly wouldn't know if it wasn't.

On a separate note -- I haven't used the camera in a while and after pulling it out of the case there seemed to be some mold/fungi growing on parts of the body.  That wasn't a pleasant find.

You May notice with that flash quite a bit of an uneven light pattern. While that sounds nasty, in practice as long as you are aware of it then it should not be a problem. There tends to be a fall off in one or more corners and it seems a bit random which between units. Take a few shots at a low power on a plain wall and you should be able to determine where on your unit.

Also, make sure you do not fire off too many shots in a burst as like many of the cheaper units and even some expensive ones they do overheat. More expensive units do cutout or reduce the number of flashes in a burst they can do. However the cheaper flashes like this one don’t have that kind of management. This can lead to a yellowing of the diffuser or a failure of the flash.

Not trying to put you off, just something to be aware of.

I currently have a number of Canon flashes, a couple of Yongnou flashes and a Neewer. Also have a flash I got sent for review once but I think the company have stopped trading. All have lasted OK so far.

Thank you for this.

I have the flash and have been using it to learn, but there is a bunch of stuff that I don't know that I don't know that I don't know.
