Questions about the iFixit Toolkits

The standard Pro Tech Toolkit is standard. Has the driver set with every bit you can reasonably need, some spudgers and tweezers and stuff and an anti-static strap. All useful for laptops as well, not just phones.

One Phillips screw drive is all you need for most desktop repair.

For laptops things get complicated. Most of the time two smaller ph screw driver and a few old credit cards are enough.

Until you come across a pentalobe or triangle bit or any other funky screw (sometimes they even use phillips for all the screws and then a different bit for the hinge bolts). If the OP is looking at iFixit kits, those are some of the best in the biz. Just grab a Pro Tech Toolkit, it's safer for your hardware than using a kinda not the right size phillips and old credit card, since you have pretty much all the possible bits, and spudgers/picks/tweezers made specifically for handling laptop/mobile device repair. Includes a tray as well, so you can keep track of pesky screws much more easily.

Apple is special. I also have come across a allen key for a display hinge in a older device. But for real notebooks there isn't a need for more then PH screw bits.

Apple isn't the only one to use funky screws, other OEMs can as well.

Lol same, there's tons of bits I haven't even touched. The triangle ones for example, haven't needed to open a Wii or something yet so I haven't used them yet, but they're there if I ever do need them.
