Memory Performance When Mixing Different sized but Same Freq Memory Sticks

Hello!

I am very curious about will Mixing different sized ram on multi channel system have lower memory performance than Using same ram sticks for multi channel.

Please give me some opinions

Any helps will be greatly appreciated.

it will enter a compatibility mode. TL;dr its worse performance above the size of the smaller Ramstick times the number of channels used.

And if not configured manually, Windows will automatically set your speeds based on the slowest ram stick you have.

 

We suggest that to avoid compatibility issues, you should buy identical kit or with same speed, size, capacity, everything.

 

On my signature below, which is my current setup, i have two kits of 2x8 Gskills but different on unit, one is Ripjaws and the other one is Aegis. Both kits have matching speeds, capacity, latency, etc, but i didn't experience any issue at all, since both them run on dual channel, not quad.
