Need help finding a monitor

Hi there! Recently I've upgraded my computer and I have everything besides a new monitor. I mainly play games, primarly BRs but realistically every genre, and I can't decide between a 1080p or 1440p display. I've done a lot of research online and there's so many mixed responses - 1440p is so much better for picking out details in-game, new hardware runs 1440p without a big FPS hit, 1080p is still the best for fast-paced games, rip your frames if you switch to 1440p... It's tough picking one out of the two, so I'm looking for people's experience and also help actually finding a monitor. I want high frames paired with a high refresh rate, 4K and curved are out of the question here.

My PC:

i7-9700K @3,GHz (Coffee Lake)

Cooler Master Hyper 212 Black Edition with Silencio Fan - 120mm

evga RTX 2070 XC Black

MSI Z390-A Pro

G.Skill RipJaws V Series, DDR4-3200, 32gb

evga SuperNova P2 80 Plus Platinum, modular PSU, 650w

Kolink Stronghold

Windows 10 Home Edition 64-bit

I realise that TN is best for refresh rate and response time and IPS is best for colours, so hopefully there's something for me that's either:

a) 24", 1080p, 144hz, 1ms, VA, G-Sync

or

b) 27", 1440p, 144hz, 1ms, VA, G-Sync

Again, I still haven't decided which is better for me, 1080p or 1440p, let alone found a monitor that fits one of those two lists I wrote down.

You can always buy 1440res and just play at 1080p.  Your video will handle 1440p my friend.

That's another thing I was curious about. Is there a setting to switch from 1440p over to 1080p if I have a 1440p monitor and how will that affect visual fidelity? I read that 1080p doesn't look too good on 27".

In gaming the difference will not be really noticeable.  I would get the 2070 so you can game at 1440p and have that resolution in desktop.  Your 2070 can handle it.
