Starting Windows only after reset

I got a pretty old system that recently stopped starting into windows if the PC was turned off before.

It posts goes through BIOS and lets me choose the OS (win 7). Afterwards the windows loading shows up with some heavy visual artifacts then the screen turns black and stays like that.

Booting into linux works fine.

Booting into windows with the reset button also works fine.

 

Any ideas on what the problem could be?
