Battery life is another concern aside from the UI scaling issue @Ubersonic mentioned, while not as much of a concern you can still see some gains from running a lower resolution screen and, if you're, for example, carrying this laptop in the field and using it to monitor system components every bit of battery life can be valuable as that means one fewer stop you'll have to take in order to recharge your device.

 

As for the Trackpoint section of the review...

I used a fair number of ThinkPads over the years alongside other laptops and I could not use a daily driver that didn't have a well calibrated 'nipple mouse' because it significantly increases my productivity and speed. Not only do you have direct tactile feedback, something trackpads lack, but you have finer control because of that and, additionally, have no chance of a false-click from your palm.
