Info on new ryzen on old mobos?

Simple question is there any info on this? Sitting pretty over here with my r5 1600 but would happily pay for a 3600 after looking at benchmarks, how much more demanding are there new chips on older vrms

Specifically the strix b350 board

I have a 3700x in my Crosshair VI Hero x370 board with zero issues, though going from a 95w chip to a 65w chip. Given that, both your chips are 65w chips so there should be no change in stress on your board or its VRM solution as a result.

Yes it will obviously support it, make sure to update the bios to the latest version before upgrading

That's what I'd assumed but didn't want to pull the trigger in case there was complications like not being able to overclock very well.

I just had concerns as to whether the vrms could handle the increased clock speeds

The board should have no issue since its the same TDP rating.

Definitely the above. Double check your mobo supports the new CPUs with the firmware update.

Not overclocking much is a feature of Zen 2 in general regardless of the mobo. It gives pretty close to its potential performance at stock anyway. I'd just get a better cooler than the one a 3600 comes bundled with and run it stock. You still gain a little clock from a better cooler as it doesn't drop so soon with rising temperatures, and will be a lot quieter.
