Hi guys,

Before i end up taking a baseball bat to my PC i need some help. I currently run a Windows 10 Pro fully up to date, FX-8370 on a M5A78L Mobo with 16GB of Kingston Hyper X Ram on DD3 with a RX 480 8GB card with latest drivers.

No matter what i do including vsync/all the settings low / all the settings high / mid settings games get micro stutters. Mainly GTA 5 and BF1. It also happens in BF4. This has been tested on a new install of Win10. Both my OS and GTA 5 are on separate SSD's

The game will run for around 30 seconds fine and then just lag for a few seconds and then start playing again. This could be running, explosions or just standing still. I borrowed my wifes GTX 970 which didnt help but she can run GTA on her Bulldozer 6300 and the GTX 970 fine.

I've checked the temps on both the GPU and CPU and well in range.

I've also spoken to people in the discord who say it could be time for an upgrade but ive seen people with worse setups play the games perfectly.

Rick

Those games are heavy CPU bound games. The IPC of the FX series really cant keep up in terms of what the games need. Yes you need to upgrade.

Do you by chance limit your fps using software such as MSI Afterburner? I've experienced this type of stuttering when I cap my fps in MSI Afterburner and in the game settings. Check to see if you did that as well.
