So I recently purchased an RTX 2070 XC Ultra and I feel as I am not getting what it is advertised as. I've done many benchmarks and in certain games, like rainbow six it is perfect. However other games, such as rust (which i know is horribly optimized) and the hunt:showdown, I am performing worse than my friends with 1660ti's and one has a 970. I will list my specs below, any answers would be great because I am not happy with its performance at the moment, I have seen the gpu hit 75% maybe one time, and cpu staying at about 40% usage. Not hitting 144fps, it just seems like wasted power lol.

CPU: Ryzen 5 2600x

GPU: RTX 2070 XC Ultra 8G

RAM: 16GB Trident Z 3000Mhz

(Temps are great too so thermal throttling shouldn't be an issue, currently using an aio cooler for my cpu and 7 case fans.)

Keep an eye on gpu and cpu usage in game

Maybe try a game that is definitely stable. Any benchmark type game will do like Tomb Raider

It's not the cards ability to run the game, it's the games ability to utilise the card. Blaming the card is like blaming your tyres because the road has potholes.

I’ll try that, rainbow six siege did run really well, I’m assuming i’m just playing horribly optimized games. I just get a little scared since i just dropped $500 on something i felt was underperforming. Worse fps than a 970 is pretty humiliating.

That makes sense, it just seems so underwhelming seeing 40-70 fps on all different settings in a game that a 970 or 1670ti is running at 60-90. I’m guessing it’s a cpu intensive game.

I managed to play Hunt: Showdown on my 1080 and it ran like shit. I'd blame the games, not your system.

Alright that makes me feel better. Thank you for telling me that lmao. I feel as optimization for the 20 series cards isn’t great right now. Probably why i’m seeing horrible fps compared to older generation cards.

Yeah, you buy this expensive thing and expect everything to be faster. I get that. Unfortunately not all games are created equally.

That could also be a factor, 20 series are still relatively new cards.

Rust is very cpu limited and it really doesn't scale well to the higher fps numbers. While it leans pretty heavily on a single thread, it doesn't bottleneck. It's by far the best cpu overclock stability test I've found though.

Unless you have some extremely fast cores with just as many threads, you're just not going to get the numbers you're looking for.

play some battlefield or metro games. see how the performance is vs other 2070 cards. it should be equal or 1-2% more.
