Allo,

I recently upgraded pretty much everything in my PC. Went from a 4770K, 16GB 1600, GTX 1080 to a 3800x, 16GB 3600, and unfortunately I had to wait for my new GPU as the money ran out. I should be able to get it in the next week, but have been having a hard time deciding what to buy, and I get a lot of mixed messages from forums and benchmarks. I ordered a Gigabyte windforce 2080 super OC originally. It's still on my list, but wanted to get a couple more opinions before I end actually paying and receiving the card. The basic question is, base 2080, 2080 super, or one of the two overclocked? And what brands has everyone had good results and thermals from?

Asus Prime X570-Pro, Ryzen 3800x (OC WIP), 16GB Corsair Vengeance RGB pro 3600, GTX 1080 (New card inc), Corsair H100i Pro RGB, Cooler Master H500P Mesh White Case

Hey there Wyndrunner,

I would suggest a 2080 super, as it's a newer card, as it's the latest refresh that they've done), however, if you don't want to spend as much, just go for a normal RTX 2080, the performance difference isn't that big, and you'll notice it if you do 4K Gaming on ULTRA with ray tracing on

If you are willing to spend the money, go for the 2080 super

If you want to save a little, go for the 2080 and save a little bit of money that you can spend on something else

I did forget to mention it, but yeah, I've been playing 4k ultra on the 1080, and plan on the same with the 2080 with RT. The super really is what I've been continuing to lean hard to, thanks for the input :D

I dont know if getting a 2080 S is a very big upgrade over a 1080. Even if you sell the 1080 for 400ish you'd still be down 3-400 bucks, although if you want raytracing and you have to upgrade anyways than thats understandable.

It's going back into my old rig I just replaced. My wife is using a Dell laptop atm for gaming. It works, but not really well, lol. So the old rig is going to be hers.
