So, I recently bought new parts for a brand new pc ($1.25k) And the main parts that take power, I have an intel i7 9700k and a MSI gtx 1060 6gb 16gb ram and a 22-inch LCD monitor
I have a 550w power supply and I even calculated the usage idle and fluctuating and it never broke 500w, which should mean I'm in the safe, but as I have already ordered all these parts I am wondering even if it does go wrong and I do not have enough power would this fail or even worse dangerously damage/ destroy the other parts of the computer? Any replies would help, Thanks :)

If there isn't enough power, the system should shut down. That being said, that's pretty unlikely since the system should draw under ~250w at load.

Mind mentioning what power supply you have? It's not all about what age, you need to have good quality too, especially for something as expensive as an i7.

You said you calculated the power draw, but did you actually measure it or did you just use an online website and tabulate some TDP numbers?

I WILL find your ITX build thread, and I WILL recommend the SIlverstone Sugo SG13B

Primary PC:

i7 8086k - EVGA Z370 Classified K - G.Skill Trident Z RGB - WD SN750 - Jedi Order Titan Xp - Hyper 212 Black (with RGB Riing flair) - EVGA G3 650W - dual booting Windows 11 and Fedora Linux - Black and green theme, Razer brainwashed me.

Draws 400 watts under max load, for reference.

@Fasauceome My PSU is the EVGA 550w 80+ bronze with warranty (Just in case) and for the calculations, I did a bit of both I did the measuring based on the average time I do certain activities on my computer and which I spend most on and how taxing certain things get, and I did the online calculations with some inputs and they both got me to roughly around 350w - 400w average range (which will fluctuate a little higher and a little lower) But if it is not enough wattage I can always return it and buy a higher wattage PSU. Please let me know any suggestions, it would be appreciated.

All new power supplies come with warranties.

The monitor doesn't draw power from the computers power supply - It has its own power plug. With the 9700K + GTX 1060 you shouldn't really consume more than 250w. You don't need to worry about the wattage.

CPU: Intel i7 6700k  | Motherboard: Gigabyte Z170x Gaming 5 | RAM: 2x16GB 3000MHz Corsair Vengeance LPX | GPU: Gigabyte Aorus GTX 1080ti | PSU: Corsair RM750x (2018) | Case: BeQuiet SilentBase 800 | Cooler: Arctic Freezer 34 eSports | SSD: Samsung 970 Evo 500GB + Samsung 840 500GB + Crucial MX500 2TB | Monitor: Acer Predator XB271HU + Samsung BX2450
