Currently I have a 280 rad for my 5ghz 8700k in front of my case 

do u think I could get better you temps on my gpu  if I move the rad to the top of the case ? 

And if so will would it be a big drop like 5c or not worth bothering

The difference can depend on how much heat is actually coming from the rad and how much airflow is inhibited by it being at the front. It's hard to tell how big of a difference there would be without testing it out.

Basically what wooden man said, it all depends, but usually the difference is noticeably, that being said, it's not really going to make much difference, the card may boost slightly higher but not enough to warrant all the effort in my opinion. 

 

If you wanna do it sure, go for it, it won't harm anything, but, I don't think it would be worth it unless your GPU is running on the 90s or so. Anything blow 85C is fine
