I'm looking for a new phone around that $500 or so price point and those phones are at the top of my list since the companies have a good reputation for not slowing down very much over time and keeping the phones updated, which is important to me since I'm buying one about a year after their debut and want to make it last a few years. I've really just continuously going back and forth on which phone I'm gonna get. I'm mainly trying to decide between the preferable form factor, better updates, dual speakers, and some of the other features the pixel 3 has over the oneplus as it was a flagship phone at launch but the bigger screen, faster OP, and especially battery life is putting me toward the oneplus. I mainly do stuff like watch video and browse the internet with the occasional game but I still like that smaller form factor (I haven't really tried out a larger phone, I've just gotten used to my 6s's form factor and like it) Camera's not a huge concern but the better camera's always a bonus. I don't mind getting a different phone if you have a suggestion for a better one that fits my needs but these two seem to be the most future proof, with the pixel getting better updates and oneplus having double the ram and better speed. Whats your guys take on what I should get? (Oneplus 8gb 128gb with case and earbuds $500 pixel 3 64gb $450)

The Pixel 3 has 64GB of storage that cannot be expanded. And the battery is only 2900mAh.

What good is a device that gets support for 99 years when the hardware is going to let you down in like only 1? Let that sink into your head.

What phone are you currently using and what is its battery capacity? Does it last as long as you would like? How much RAM does it have and how smoothly does it run with multiple apps open? How much storage does it have and how much of it has been used?

 I'm using an Iphone 6s

  • I have 64 gb on my phone and I barely use half of it so that doesn't really bother me
  • The battery life is 1715 mah and its absolutly awful, but I don't know what the comparison between the twos battery life would be since their completely different generations and Operating systems
  • It has 2gb of ram and I can definitely notice my backround apps not staying active, but once again I don't know what the upgrade will be since their completely different operating systems
  • I haven't really found any 1 to 1 comparisons in real life usage between the that and the pixel so I don't know if those specs will be adequite. That's why I'm considering the oneplus for the "just in case" even though I like the Pixel 3's features more itself

Ah, so what is the primary driving force that is prompting you to get a new phone? And why Android?

The LCD is dying on it to the point of no repair, along with the other signs of age its feeling. I want the more customizability and openess of android, and it seemed like I could get a much better value getting a less than one year old android instead of a 3 year old iphone in that price point. I'm still fine with going with IOS but I feel androids more for me
