Mouse questions

Wingfan

What does everyone look for in a mouse?

What do you think a "good" mouse should cost?

Does brand matter in you purchase?

Thanks responses

Sensor type and model

Ergonomics

Software

~£75

Any major brand.

In the end for my needs i only had one option. The MSi Glutch GM70.

It replaced a Madcatz RAT7 MMO that i wore out over a period of ~5 years. The RAT7 had replaced the OG Logitech G5 which i had previously.

I wanted to go with an Optical sensor, the best, 3360 (or any variant of it), i needed a pinky AND a thumb rest, and i prefer to use a claw grip. Software dont rly care so long as it works.

The most important part of a mouse to me is that it fits my hand. Then, of course, it needs to have a decent sensor and tactile buttons.

The price depends on the features you want. Price should always be looked at last.

The brand can matter, but shouldn't. I know lots of people won't buy Razer mice, because they had issues with them.
I know a lot of people are Logitech fanboys.

I don't care much about the brand.

In order, what I look for in a mouse is:

  1. Sensor - It must have a highly-accurate sensor for as smooth tracking as possible
  2. Shape - It must have a comfortable grip and not be too small nor be too large
  3. Software - User-friendly and in-depth software to control things such as DPI, button re-mapping - and RGB if included - are a must since if I'm looking for a new mouse, I expect to be able to program it the way I want it
  4. Build quality - The mouse must be built out of high-quality materials and not built from the cheapest plastic possible, not just for durability, but also general feel of the mouse for what I pay for a mouse
  5. Colorway - It's a nice added bonus if a mouse comes in different colorways such as black or white options, and not just restricted to a single color

Price or brand doesn't really matter as long as the mouse in question covers the five factors above for me. Where I would draw the line on is if a mouse retails at more than $100. That markup is far too aggressive.

Thanks for the responses everyone.

On my 4th mouse in 2-3 years, and its getting expensive. Using a Corsair Harpoon right now, thought it would fit my grip better., it doesnt. its usable but not small enough.
A freind recommended a Final Mouse, saw the price tag and about spit out may drink.
RGB doesnt really matter to me, but software does as many of you said.

Again thanks.
