Prebuilts tend to cut corners, you know what you're getting when you build it yourself. It always seems daunting at first, but once you watch a how to and actually put it together, you'll feel pretty comfortable upgrading and servicing it.

Pre-builts generally come with low-end power supplies that really shouldn't have a significantly more powerful graphics card put into them.

 

Questions though:

 

-What's your budget?

-What games do you want to play?

-If you have a monitor already, what resolution is it?

 

Answering these could probably help people give you some recommendations, regardless of which choice you end up going with.

I like to play high end games and my budget is $1,500 or below

I would look at something similar to this. You still have some budget left so you could easily upgrade to an 8 core cpu.

Build your self. Why? 

1. You get what you want. 
2. You get the specs you need/want
3. Its going to be upgradable. My mom's Lenovo desktop is proprietary as fuck. 
4. You can get more flexible configurations. 
5. There is nothing like the smell of a fresh motherboard. Just saying.

Building a PC is so much more satisfying than buying a prebuilt. You get to say "Yep. I built that!"

A boutique is different from a prebuilt. I always present my clients with the build list before they sign off on payment, and I always do my best to avoid bare minimum like A320 motherboards and substandard PSUs
