Yes you can, PCI-E 3.0 cards are backwards compatible with PCI-E 2.0 slots, you just get a slight reduction in bandwidth

Yes, I don't think there are any cards that use all the bandwidth of pcie 2.0, 650 ti boost doesn't. I think sli titans do though!

Some boards will support PCIE 3.0 if you update the BIOS and install the appropriate CPU on them.

In this case i'm talking about older chipsets like H61 running Ivy Bridge CPUs, it actually can be done.

Bare in mind that you'll lose half of the bandwith going from one iteration to the previous, and honestly the impact on performance is debatable, some games/cards do need the bandwith, some don't... it really depends.

Stop bloating nonsense, and reason to contribute in a constructive manner.

There's probably a PCIE 3.0 update waiting for you there.

Knock yourself out. :-)

And yeah i missed the whole point of this topic, of course it's backwards compatible, no worries.

Yes it is backwards compatible so you will be able to use your PCI-E 3.0 card on a PCI-E 2.0 slot. Using PCI-E 2.0 will lose around 3 fps in games which isn't really noticeable imo: http://www.hardocp.com/article/2012/07/18/pci_express_20_vs_30_gpu_gaming_performance_review/
