Looking for a laptop for my girlfriend

Hasky

Hello all,

my gf wants me to buy her a laptop and I'm still not quite sure which one to get.

Stuff important to her:

- Good screen (for Netflix and Youtube)

- Not too heavy

Stuff important to me:

- I'd like her to have a docking station (not a bulky one like the ones from Dell; maybe Thunderbolt?) so she can use the Laptop at work, come home plug it in and use it as her home PC

- Good battery life (5h+)

- A good keyboard; she writes a lot and a good keyboard is in my opinion a great investment

- Maybe a couple USB3's; for USB-Sticks and external drives

--> which bring me to Storage; I'd say a least a 250GB SSD, because the programs she uses need a good drive

- at least 4 GB RAM

Now the important part: I want it to have a good price. If I'll tell her buy one that's good in EVERYTHING and costs 2000 bucks she probably would just buy it. I'd rather give her a laptop without a good GPU for a cheaper price. I think around 800-900$ is reasonable?

Thanks in advance for your suggestions!

Kind Regards,

Hasky

EDIT: Okay, 500 bucks was very optimistic, so upped to 800

500-600 probs a second hand Thinkpad/dell(It won't be light). You won't have thunderbolt though. Also the battery life will be shit until you replace the battery.

Matebook X Pro 2019 has pretty much meet all the important to you and GF apart from the cost ofc.

It around 1500 USD (I5/8GB/256GB) or 2000 USD (i7/16GB/525GB)

It has USB type A for older devices/usb and thunderbolt/type c for GPU/DOCKS/Hubs. Why not a thunderbolt dock or just external monitor as M250 should have enough power external monitor without any issues.

Battery life is great is enough for the full day at uni (i5 model which my friend have) it mix of web browsing/notes/videos. It has probably one of better speakers for a ultra book.

XP13 is also a good option, only the high end have thunderbolt support though.

Macbook - I don't personally recommend it but it an option.

EDIT: A Macbook or Matebook X PRO will get GF approval in terms of looks.

Where are you from? Preferred max weight in kg/lbs?

$500-600 is a bit low TBH, and you'll not get good display and TB3 for that price

I live in China, and is the matebook x pro rly that expensive? In China the top spec for a matebook x pro is 10,000 RMB, which is around 1,400 USD with free shipping and no tax.

But I'm China all Huawei laptops come with deepin Linux which may be why it's so much cheaper
