My PRE-BUILT PC already comes with:

-i7 7700

-GTX 1050 2GB

-350W Power Supply

-1TB HDD (no SSD)

-12GB of DDR4 RAM

What do you guys think of upgrading to a Corsair 550W power supply, a GTX 1660-ti, and a 250GB SSD? Is it worth, or should I think about getting different parts?

Sure, maybe also a 4GB memory stick?

Is the case any good for upgrades though?

Prebuilt PCs are pretty expensive as-is. If you're buying one with the intent of immediately sinking another $300+ into it, I'd reconsider which PC you're picking up.

I enjoy buying junk and sinking more money than it's worth into it to make it less junk.

so the psu wattage is way overkill but somehow the 550w is also $99.99 so picked this one.

is your current rig holding up with the games you play? Ea enough cpu power?

Possibly, the motherboard comes with another spot for another RAM stick. (yes, the 12GB ram is in 1 stick) The case has enough space for larger GPUs and definitely doesn't look like anything special.

For the games, I play, yes as I don't usually play highly demanding games. It's just I think my GPU is bottlenecking my CPU from its "best performance" if that makes sense. I'm also planning to possibly purchase a VR set.

If the 750W is the same price as the 550W then I'll most likely get that then. Thanks.

I've had this prebuilt PC for about a year now. I'm just thinking of upgrading as I intend to play higher demanding games then what I am playing now.

Impossible. I expect 3 4GB sticks or 1x8 + 1x4 setup currently in there.

Is there a specific brand I should get the 1660-ti from, ex. ASUS, MSI, EVGA, etc.

Keep yourself to cheaper custom models. Things like the ROG Strix cost too much, so much that you might as well get an entry level 2060

MSI Ventus has terrible fans, high pitched in noise and loud.

I don't really plan on upgrading the motherboard, as I think what I have currently will last me a few more years. I don't know about the cooler though.

EVGA has the best customer service and their 3 slot single fan card perform adequately, Zotac's twin fan model also perform well.

750W is a little bit overkill tho. and CX is much more cheaper. considering Corsair CX 20117 Grey 650Watt. and for the GPU 1660 is enough actually.

750w Rmx was same price as the 550w unit do hence I picked it.

I won’t ever cheap out on psu’s ? rather over than underspend

I'm looking at a "Corsair VS 550 W 80+ Certified ATX Power Supply" it's $54.99 CAD. It seems to be good, but apparently the counterpart; CX is better? (Corsair CX (2017) 550 W 80+ Bronze) but costs $74.99. Worth?

Do not buy a VS. absolute garbage.

CX better than the VS, but for those last $14.99 you might as well grab a Rmx.

if budget doesn’t permit a CX will do fine

The CX is $74.99 in CAD, in USD it's $69.87. The RMX you're talking about is $99.99 in USD but about $130 CAD. I think for my wallet, it would be better to get the CX, unless there's something better for a equal or reasonable price.

The MSI one just isnt worth the price. The 1660ti doesnt run hot enough to warrant a better cooler.
