IPhone X Not Turning On

ArcticEngineer

The title is basically what it is. I tried all the requisite fixes (charging it, holding down the power button, and holding down volume up and power down buttons.) but nothing seems to be working. Could I possibly have a dead phone? Any help is appreciated thanks.

I'll let the OP find out the hard way. He can tell you the outcome if he wants :)

any reasoning behind that?

Though to be fair they usually want to just have you replace stuff then offer to recycle the device. If you know you have a dead battery or screen you can likely convince them to replace it (IDK their pricing though, IIRC it's a lot), otherwise it's not worth the hassle. And if you do know it's a hardware issue and have decent hands, at least one eyeball, and the ability to read and follow directions, you'd be better off fixing it yourself. iFixit sells replacement parts for most Apple devices, I always use them vs eBay stuff because iFixit's parts are consistently excellent quality, whereas cheaper screens can range from okay to yikes what the fuck is this.

iPhone not turning on? How about trying fix iPhone won't turn on by checking the physical damage first? Or you can manage to charge your iPhone to see whether it is at low battery. Other solutions like update or restore iPhone X, put iPhone into recovery mode and repair with advanced iPhone system recovery are also worth a shot.

^^^ Yus. The 'ole "charge it for like 8 hours then plug it in to iTunes to see if it recognizes a phone is connected" method is good to verify the phone at least kinda works, you can use that as a start for more advanced troubleshooting. If the device won't power on at all, then you've either got something loose (very rare but I've had the display cables disconnect due to a drop on my iPhone 4S, that was still recognized by iTunes though), or dead hardware.
