Are any of these a good carpet alternative?

bbtothe

I'm a tad worried about leaving my new PC on the carpet in the room as the psu fan is on the bottom of the case.

Are any of these a good alternative to place under pc and on top of carpet?

They're pretty weird alternatives i know ? but to get a 'chair mat' from another store is like $50 and a long drive away lol

Thanks

Don't be worried. I've had a bottom mounted PSU on carpet for years. The only issue is it traps heat a lot more then tiles/solid flooring does, no static risk (unless you have a case with absolutely 0 clearance, which a highly doubt). And the heat isn't all that bad either, as the fans will just speed up. Anouther alternate is getting some pieces of wood or small tiles from somewhere like Bunnings, and just raising it off the ground a little if you're that worried.

You likely could flip your PSU so it's sucking air from inside the case instead of from below the case. If not, you just need something hard to keep the carpet from blocking the airflow. I wouldn't recommend any of those three that you linked. Something like this https://amzn.to/2Hc5aW0 or even just a sheet of wood that fits all four feet on it would work.

You can get some plywood or a 1x10 (19x235mm, thickness x width, might need something wider or narrower depending on the case, length will depend on your case too) board for quite cheep from most home improvement stores. They might even cut it down to size for you.

Specs: CPU - Intel i7 8700K @ 5GHz | GPU - Gigabyte GTX 970 G1 Gaming | Motherboard - ASUS Strix Z370-G WIFI AC | RAM - XPG Gammix DDR4-3000MHz 32GB (2x16GB) | Main Drive - Samsung 850 Evo 500GB M.2 | Other Drives - 7TB/3 Drives | CPU Cooler - Corsair H100i Pro | Case - Fractal Design Define C Mini TG | Power Supply - EVGA G3 850W

Oh hello neighbour! Bunnings is pretty close! (officeworks isnt lol), if i was to get some wood from bunnings should I just get one big piece to go under the case or like 2 side railings>

i cant flip the psu fan because then it would just be hitting a wall in the case. i might go the wood route

I would recommend 1 piece. From experience, having 2 pieces may cause it to be lobsided, as one side sinks into youyr carpet more then the other. If a whole piece is too expensive, I would say front and back before left and right pieces.
