Geforce GTX 1660

FX 6300 cpu

MSI 970 motherboard

I recently switched over to pc gaming a couple of days ago and I get anywhere from 30-110 fps while playing fortnite and my gpu and cpu usage are very low with my cpu usage being at 39 consistently and my gpu being at 26-28 and i dont know what to do about it. Is my cpu bottlenecking my gpu? Please help.

Yes, your CPU is bottlenecking your GPU. The FX 6300 will be a bottleneck in virtually any modern game when paired with a card exceeding the performance of a GTX 960. Low CPU/GPU usage rarely determines your frame rate, as most games will not hit 100% utilization.

Is there anyway I can get the usage up without getting a new cpu. If not what would be a good cpu that would go with the motherboard that I could get that’s not too expensive?

Increasing GPU usage will not yield better framerates. The AM3+ platform is dead, there is no upgrade path that would be suitable for your current card. Your best bet would be to switch to AM4. I would look on your local classifieds (Facebook Marketplace, Craigslist) for people trying to get rid of their old Ryzen 5/7 CPUs, B350 motherboards, and DDR4 memory.
