Hello people. I am interested in creating a budget gaming system. I was planning to buy a new high end PC but I have other priorities now and the new PC will go for end of 2020. I have the following hardware already

GPU: AMD Radeon RX 590

Storage: 2x250GB Samsung SSD and 2TB WD HDD

Power: 550W Corsair

I found through a friend 2 sets of CPU/Mobo/RAM.

i5-4690K / ASROCK Z97-EXTREME4 / 16GB DDR3 1600. Total cost 200 Euros

i5-7500 / Asus Prime B250m-A. Cost 150 Euros but I will need about another 100 for 16GB DDR4 RAM. So total cost is 250.

Does the newer cpu gen+DDR4 worth the 50 euro difference because I read I can OC the 4690K to 4,3 easily. I am talking 1080p gaming.

I would take that $100 more because of the DDR4 memory will be compatible with your new build ( So if you buy it now you don't have to do it in the future ), also a newer motherboard with 1151 socket than can fit better CPUs ( not 1151 V2, my bad, both can fit CPUs up to 7th gen ).  For 1080p you are good to go with that i5-7500 without overclocking. The downside of this config is that the CPU is not overclockable and the motherboard is mid-range in terms of chipset and VRM.

BUT

If we look from the other way, the I5-4690k can be better and the Asrock board is mutch higher end. It comes with memory so you don't have to spend more on it now. With tis option you have to spend on  a CPU cooler and a reliable PSU to overclock that 4690k.

system out println("Please don't drop it Linus!");

Some comic sans because why not

Upgrade options are the same. 1151 and 1150 are both limited to 4/8 i7s (4790K and 7700K). DDR4 is not really going to matter since if he's upgrading again, better wait for 2021 and DDR5.

That's true, I edited my reply while you wrote this, I wanted to highlight the good and bad sides of both options.
