PC crashing

Lately my PC is crashing while playing World of Warcraft. (It did on few games before but it was VERY rare.. On WoW it became highly likely for each day even multiple times a day)

How it would crash:
- Play it for few hours

- After some time it crashes (Sometimes can be within minutes as today I had like 4 crashes in 1 raid encounter.)
- Monitor turns off
- Computer fans go balistic and fast af

- The PC still has power and running... I can also hear music in the background

- Can't do nothing until I have to force shutdown it and restart 

There is no dust anymore (unless it's stuck somewhere)
Most important drivers up to date

 

(Right now I think my PSU is slowly getting weaker and dying.)

I had basically this situation when I put together a system a few years ago.

A windows reinstall fixed it for me, though it could entirely be drivers

Sounds like GPU. What GPU do you have and what are temps like?

I have an rx580 strix
All of the temps are around 50'C both CPU and GPU

I've seen a few computers do this, most of the time it's just corrupt windows or bad drivers, but a couple of them would do this anytime the GPU was stressed and they both turned out to be failing GPUs. Try an inplace windows upgrade and update all drivers, bios and all. If it still does it stress test your GPU.

Try running a GPU stress test. If it passes, I'm not sure what it could be. If it fails, try another PSU. If it still fails after that, I would say your card is dead, but idk.

Did the stess test.. It was normal
The fans activate at 55'C and the temp max was 58/59

What stress test did you run?

How long did you run it for? To be sure it needs to run for at least 30 minutes ideally an hour.

Well... PC died after like 10min.......... of the test

Completely died or just did the same thing as it did in WoW or whatever game it was?

 

 

I think now it's time to start swapping components. You could *try* Linux or something, but somehow I doubt that would fix the issue.

It's probably your GPU, but maybe try lowering the power limit as much as you can in MSI Afterburner and then running a stress test. It could also be your PSU.

I really hope it's not some GPU problem because the temp and everything is normal even after shut down

The PSU I have is Seasonic S12 silent 80 bronze plus.. 620W ATX 12V

Usually this is because the GPU is failing. Both computers I had diagnosed with this issue where fixed by replacing the GPUs. You can still try DDUing the drivers and make sure all drivers are up to date but I'm afraid if that doesn't work the it will be just the GPU failing. It's possible it could be the PSU but highly unlikely as if it were the PSU the entire computer would turn off completely not just lose display and have the fans ramp up.

I will try reseting windows tommorow morning if that will help... Incase there is something in files etc.. 
The computer is barely 2 years old.

Thank god.
I've been running the stress test for 1h 30min and it was all normal.
I've reintalled windows and hoepfully it will be okay for now :)
