Hi I'm going to take my ICND1 test in a fortnight and am unsure about what to study on.

Ive done the IT essentials and CCNA 1-4 R&S coursework but i wasn't sure if the test covers the IT Essentials stuff

only or some of the CCNA stuff as well or if there are specific subjects i should be focusing on like OSPF or QoS or RiP or

etc.

Also if anyone has done their icnd1 if theirs any third party study material they could recommend it would be greatly appreciated.

thanks

Brush up on your networking fundamentals first. Basics like the OSI model and differences between hubs, switches, routers and how they affect broadcast and collision domains.

I have a couple of people I know at work that failed ICND1 due to getting some of the fundamentals wrong.

Subnetting is something to keep studying as it seems to be the one that people always forget if they don't keep going over it (I know I do).

Consider signing up for a site like Lynda.com or CBTNuggets for the two weeks so you can go over the entire ICND1 content and go into ICND2 as well.

One of the most important things is that if you do fail, look at the sections you missed points on and study that. Book in another test within the month and try again. If you stop and wait between tests, you're more likely to fail. ICND1 and 2 have something ridiculous like a 80% first time failure rate, so don't be discouraged if you don't pass.

I only know three people who have passed both first time. Average seems to be the third time from what I've seen.
