I am putting together a custom water cooling loop in the next few months and i have seen some posts about using the right type of tubing, more specifically that i shouldn't use vinyl tubing bought from the hardware store and only use tubing that is meant for water cooling, can anyone tell me what the differences are?

mean reason is that off the shelf hardware tubing will have plasticizers in them and tubing designed for water cooling is usually free of these. Here is an article from EKWB about them and the dangers.

As said plasticizer is what you want to avoid as it can leech into the fluid and coat surfaces of the loop or cause clogging. For soft tubing both Primochill advance LRT and Mayhems Ultra clear are options I would recommend. This is also one of the benefits of hardline where the tubing will not easily fog or degrade from age compared to soft tubing.
