Recently just built a new desktop to replace my laptop for gaming. However ive been having persistent issues with the desktop for the past few months  where the screen would suddnely just go black and all pc fans would ramp up. However it seems like windows is still running on as one of my friends pointed out that my in game character was still able to move around as i touched the arrow keys
Current system build
Ryzen 5 3600

Gigabyte Aorus B450 pro WiFi

Gigabyte GTX 1070Ti gaming 8g

Gskill Trident z 3200 CL16

Cryorig H7 Quad Lumi
Superflower Leadex Gold 650w
Seagate Barracuda 3TB HDD

ADATA XPG SX6000 500gb m.2

At first i thought that maybe it was due to a minor overclock i did through the Ryzen master auto overclocking software which was to blame to for this software bug and for awhile, I thought that I solved the problem, but just today, the same issue came back where theres a suddenl black screen and the fans spin up while the pc still is responsive in-game.

I didn't notice any overheating at all from and my system wasn't working particularly hard playing what I was playing at the time
Plan on trying to lower the clockspeed of my gpu to see if that makes a difference
If anyone has any ideas on what might be causing this problem do share it here!

If your character was still moving around in game while your PC was locked up, it seems like it's a graphics card issue, as an issue with the storage/cpu/memory would cause a BSOD and a restart. Windows can commonly continue running if the GPU driver fails.

I recommend running DDU (linus recommended) to completely uninstall your GPU driver, install the most recent available from the NVidia site, download Geforce Experience and update it from there. Reseating your GPU wouldn't hurt either.

I'm noticing your GPU is a gen behind. Is it brought over from a previous system, or is it used? Wondering if it's reaching end-of-life, might be worth redoing the thermal paste on it if it's not new, your GPU could just be overheating or unstable due to aging paste.

My rig:

CPU: Ryzen 7 5800x

My GPU was actually brought over from my friends pc as he passed me his old card, however, the card is still under warranty and i don't really want to take apart the card and void the warranty left on the card.
I'll try out DDU-ing and resitting the card and for now and see if i'm able to fix the issue
Thanks for the prompt reply!

What are your temps when gaming? It’s hard to see them when your screen goes black but maybe you have a look during gaming

My Temps are usually in the 50s to 60 degrees when playing thats why i thought that temps might not be the issue with the card

Update
Seems like the issue still occurs randomly even without stressing the pc, have tried removing XMP profile and run the ram at 2133mhz to see if it was causing the issue. Other things I've done to remedy the problem is to clean the entire gpu and replace the thermal goop on the chip, change the pads surrounding the card itself and giving the heatsink and fans a good cleaning.
If anyone has any more ideas for me to do to remedy the issue do let me know!
