Ryzen 5 2600 vs Ryzen 5 3600

Hey guys I need a little bit of help here.

Long story short. I have a i5 7500 which for me is really good when it comes to editing and playing games but sometimes rendering takes a little bit too long which makes me want to get a new CPU.
I know that this year the Ryzen 5 3600 is the new CPU King because of it's beastly performance and the $200 price. But When I checked the Userbenchmark for the Ryzen 5 3600 vs 2600 there is only a 10% difference when it comes to workstation. And when I compared the Ryzen 5 2600 to my i5 7500 there's a 30% difference. The 3600 costs $240 in my place and the 3600 costs $140. I don't have that much money so I was thinking to get the 2600 for $140 and use the $100 to buy 16GB RAM.

But what do you guys think? Is the Ryzen 5 2600 worth it? Or should I save more for the Ryzen 5 3600 which would probably take me 4 months since I am still a student.

Cant really go wrong with either CPU honestly. Both are fantastic for the price. I think the idea you have laid before you is the better of the 2, use the savings on the CPU for more RAM as video editing can be ram intensive.

Thanks for the info :DYeah I agree with you about me thinking I laid my eyes on the 3600 too. I was thinking of future proofing it. For now let's just say that I will get the Ryzen 5 2600,  what does system memory specification mean? The 2600 has 2933 mhz while the 3600 has 3200mhz. Is that like the memory RAM speed?

Yea, those are the speeds that are "officially" supported by the IMC on the CPU, or Integrated Memory Controller. Anything above those are technically considered an overclock, so enabling XMP or DOCP above 2933 or 3200 on those chips respectively is technically an overclock, but should work regardless. Sweet spot for the 2600 is 3200mhz and sweet spot for 3600 is 3600mhz.
