custom laptop

Hi,

Recently I watched a 10 month old video (Why Can't You Build Your Own Laptop?) (www.youtube.com/watch?v=YLTUfuveyv4). Had an idea. What if we can fit inside a laptop an intel nuc (removing/desoldering any long components (like 2 USB on top of each other)). Using the same keyboard and mouse-pad but connected via USB using a controller. Same screen, using a screen driver with hdmi. Slim rechargeable battery that fits (with capacity indicator) and delivering 12 to 24V (if the original battery doesn't output 12+V). And taking advantage of thunderbolt.

Do you think it can be done or is it too crazy?

So what you're basically suggesting is that it's a barebones laptop?

Yes. Basically without the motherboard.

Wouldn't it be more expensive and less performant to do something like this over just buying the laptop?

Good point. It is slightly more expensive. But I dunno, I love the idea of searching and trying to fix my devices or repurposing and modifying certain parts. So getting ideas like this isn't new . Thank you for the answers!
