Currently I have:

CPU: Ryzen 5 2400g

Motherboard: Gigabyte B450m DS3H

Ram: TEAMGROUP T-Force Delta RGB DDR4 16GB (2x8GB) 3000MHz

GPU: Sapphire R9 280x Vapor-x Tri-X

PSU: 550w 80+ bronze

Problem: system wont boot when I plug my gpu to the psu; only when IGPU is used i get a boot, but all fans and LEDs are on.

What I have tried, updated bios from f2 to f32, but im gonna go to 42b after im done writing and ill write an updated after if the system boots after updating. tried another slot but there is no spaces because of the front panel ports.

Im thinking that either the GPU is dead (which wouldnt make sense if the leds on the pcb is on, fans and led on the side.)  or the psu needs an upgrade to 650w

It looks like probably the PSU is the issue (i hope).

Try your GPU on another system to check if it is really working.

Honestly, I would think the PSU Wouldn't be a problem because the minimum PSU requirements that are stated for your GPU is 550watt, which is what you have. I would most likely, if it's still under warranty don't, check if any capacitors or any high standing power delivery or tracers are knocked off, this could be the problem. I've had this before with a capacitor that had a loose solder point. Then again,  just be aware this is semi risky.

I’m pretty sure it’s not under warranty so I’m gonna have to stick with buying a new one. Do you have any psu’s that you would recommend?

It depends on the budget mainly, but a good power supply would be for example a 650 corsair PSU or a 550watt PSU from SilverStone.

Also, try to aim for a PSU above bronze efficiency, I've had bronze power supplies make lots of noise.

My personal preference are the SEASONIC, grab  a 650W gold the Prime if you can afford it, or the focus, more of a budget one!
