Think GPU died. How to know for sure.

Hellbringer3110

Sorry I am kind of a noob when it comes to computer parts. I had my current PC prebuilt. I've had this built around 4.5 years ago.

Parts:
GPU: 970

CPU: i7 4790k

PSU: Thermaltake 750 Bronze

MOBO: Asus z97-k

So for around two weeks now, I have been using graphics on my i7. My gpu's fan does't turn on when I plug it in and turn on my pc. I've tried reseating it. It didn't work. The gpu doesn't show up in bios. Is the only way to make sure it is dead is to try it in a different PC? I was also wondering if it was dead, what could have caused it. Cause I don't want to get a new one and have the same thing happen to it.

do you have the power pins plugged in to the card. normally i would assume yes but if new this might not be obvious. one 6 pin and 1 8 pin if i recall correctly

no, just swap and it should detect for display though it may need a reinstall of drivers

Yes that means you’re  GPU is dead but if you do get a new GPU do a stress test on it and see if anything fails on the new GPU if it doesn’t then you’re good to go .

Yeah don’t get rid of the old graphic and if you do get a new one. try to open up the old graphic card and your fans might be dead maybe replacing fans and thermal paste might bring it back to life for a little bit and if that doesn’t help hit me up and I’ll buy off you for parts if it’s cheap.
